Terms of Service
Last updated October 13, 2026 · Version 2026-10-13.5
In short
- Dash is for people 18 and older. By texting Dash you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy.
- Dash is an AI. It can be wrong, so check anything important (dates, policies, amounts) before you rely on it.
- Dash can read your school sites and, only after you say yes to the exact details, do things there for you like booking a room or an appointment, or checking out an order once you've said yes to the total. It never submits graded work, never types in card details or sends money, and never touches your password or security settings.
- Dash is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, call 911. In Canada and the US you can call or text 988 any time.
- Reply STOP to stop texts, START to turn them back on, and HELP for help.
1. Who we are
Dash is a service of Dash Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Dash", "we", "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Dash Inc. about your use of Dash, including texting Dash, the pages it makes for you, your account page and our website at textdash.ai (together, the "Service").
2. Agreeing to these Terms
You agree to these Terms by texting Dash or otherwise using the Service. Dash's first message to you links to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service, and reply STOP or close your account from your account page.
3. Who can use Dash
You must be at least 18 years old to use Dash. By using it, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that you can enter into this agreement. Dash is designed for university and college students, but you don't have to be enrolled to use it. If we learn that someone under 18 is using Dash, we may close their account. If we learn that we've collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
4. Your account
- Your account is tied to the phone number you text Dash from. You're responsible for activity from that number, so keep your phone secure.
- One account per person. Don't text Dash from someone else's number or pretend to be someone else.
- During our beta, Dash may be invite-only and may have a waitlist. We decide who gets access and when.
- You can see what Dash knows, change settings, sign out of connected sites and close your account from your account page. Text "settings" to get a link.
5. Text messages
- Consent. When you text Dash, you agree to receive text messages (SMS, MMS and iMessage) from Dash in reply, and messages Dash sends on its own that you can turn on or off: deadline heads-ups, reminders you ask for, a morning rundown, a weekly preview and occasional check-ins. Consent to texts is not a condition of any purchase.
- Frequency. Message frequency varies with how you use Dash.
- Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Your carrier's charges are yours.
- Stopping. Reply STOP (or STOP ALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT) to stop messages Dash sends on its own. Reply START to turn them back on. Reply HELP for help, or email support@textdash.ai.
- Delivery. Carriers aren't responsible for delayed or undelivered messages, and we can't guarantee every message arrives on time.
6. What Dash does, and its limits
Dash helps you with university life: it keeps track of your courses and deadlines, sends reminders, answers questions about your campus, helps you study, drafts emails and messages for you to send, and handles some admin for you. To do some of these things it uses tools on your behalf, and only when you ask or turn the feature on:
- School sites: reading. If you sign in to your learning management system, student portal or another school site (like the library's booking system) through Dash's secure sign-in page, Dash can read it in your saved session to find things like deadlines, grades, announcements and availability. You type your password on that page yourself; Dash never sees or stores it.
- School sites: tasks you approve. When you ask, Dash can carry out a task for you on a school site you've signed in to: for example booking a study room, an advising or health appointment or a gym slot, requesting a transcript or a document, RSVPing, joining a waitlist, or updating a preference. Before anything is submitted, Dash shows you exactly what it is about to do (the site, the action and every detail it will enter) and does it only after you say yes to that; if the site needs something Dash doesn't have, it asks you rather than guessing. For a task that changes your enrolment or that the site says has a fee, a penalty or can't be undone, Dash tells you that plainly first, and you decide. Dash carries out one task at a time, exactly as you approved it, and tells you what the site confirmed. You're responsible for the tasks you approve, and for checking that the site did what you wanted (a booking, a request, a change can still be wrong or fail on the site's side).
- Purchases you approve. When you ask, Dash can buy something for you on a site you've signed in to through Dash (for example a food order, tickets or a fee) using the payment method you've already saved on that site. Dash prepares the order and stops at the final checkout step. It then shows you the site, what you're buying and the total the site shows, and places the order only after you say yes to that total. If the total changes before the order goes in, Dash stops and asks you again. The purchase is between you and the seller: their prices, fees, taxes, delivery, cancellation and refund terms apply, and you're responsible for the purchases you approve. If something goes wrong with an order, contact the seller; Dash can help you with that.
- What Dash never does on a site, even if you ask. Dash does not submit, edit or answer graded work (assignments, quizzes, tests, exams); type in card or bank details, send or transfer money, or buy gift cards; buy anything without your yes to the total; enter your password or sign-in codes anywhere other than its own secure sign-in page, or change your password, security, two-factor or account-recovery settings; delete your account or your data; or send messages to other people that you haven't approved word for word.
- Public websites. Dash can also open public websites in a separate browser that holds none of your sign-ins, to answer a question from the live site: what's open for delivery, a transit trip, a store's or clinic's hours, an event page. On those sites Dash only reads. To order or book there for you, Dash asks you to sign in to that site through its secure sign-in page first, and then follows the purchase rules above.
- Connected apps. If you connect your email or calendar, Dash can read school-related emails to find deadlines and changes, and read or add calendar events you ask for.
- Phone calls. If you ask, Dash can phone a business or university office for you, for example to ask a question or check on a request. It tells the person it's an AI calling on your behalf, shares only what you've approved, and texts you what happened. Dash only calls a number the business or office lists itself (on its own website, or in your school's listed contacts), never a number from a directory or someone else's page, and it won't call personal numbers.
- Web search and pages. Dash can search the web and make study pages (like practice quizzes) for you at a private link.
Dash never sends or transfers money for you, and never buys anything without your yes to the exact total.
Dash can be wrong. It's an AI, and its answers, summaries, dates and drafts can be incomplete, out of date or incorrect, including information it finds on your school's or other websites. Check anything important with the official source (your syllabus, your school, your prof) before you rely on it. Reminders and alerts are a convenience, not a guarantee: you remain responsible for your own deadlines, applications, payments and decisions.
Not professional advice. Dash doesn't give medical, legal, immigration, financial or mental-health advice. It can point you to official sources and the offices that can help, but it isn't a substitute for them.
Not an emergency service. Dash may share crisis lines if you tell it you're struggling, but it can't send help or monitor your safety. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number).
7. Using Dash responsibly
You agree not to use Dash to:
- break your school's academic integrity rules. Dash won't do graded work for you (answer open quizzes or tests, or write assignments you'll hand in as your own), and you're responsible for following your school's rules about AI tools;
- harass, threaten, deceive or harm anyone, or get information about another person without their permission;
- break the law, or infringe anyone's rights;
- try to get around Dash's safeguards, get at its instructions or other users' information, or interfere with the Service (for example by flooding it with messages, scraping it or testing its security without our written permission);
- use Dash's output to build a competing service.
We may limit, pause or close an account that breaks these rules or puts other people or the Service at risk.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you send Dash (messages, photos, files) and of what Dash makes for you. You give us permission to store, process and use your content to provide the Service to you, to keep it safe, and to improve Dash, as described in our Privacy Policy. You confirm you have the right to share what you send us. Don't send Dash other people's private information unless they're okay with it.
9. Third-party services
Dash works with other services: your school's sites, email and calendar providers, the businesses it calls, and the companies that help us run Dash (listed in our Privacy Policy). Those services have their own terms, and we're not responsible for them, their content or their availability.
10. The beta, changes and availability
Dash is in beta. Features may change, be added or be removed, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. We may change these Terms; if a change is significant, we'll tell you by text or on our website before it takes effect. If you keep using Dash after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply. Dash is currently free; if we ever charge for it, we'll tell you first and you can choose whether to continue.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using Dash at any time: reply STOP, or close your account from your account page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if required by law, or if we stop offering the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (like 8, 12, 13 and 14) survive the end of this agreement.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that it will catch every deadline or change.
13. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, Dash Inc. and its directors, employees and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, grades, opportunities or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
14. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover Dash Inc. for claims and costs that come from your breaking these Terms or misusing the Service.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree that the state and federal courts located in Delaware may hear any dispute about these Terms or the Service. If you live outside the United States, for example in Canada, nothing in this section takes away the protection of the consumer laws where you live or your right to bring a claim in your local courts where those laws give you that right.
16. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right, we haven't given it up. You can't transfer these Terms to someone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
